Soul Revival

The Soul Revival originally founded in 1968. It was born from a local band known as the "Cellar Dwellers" led by Mike Winfred and Wayne Lopes, Wayne a versatile lead guitarist, with sharp stinging leads moved on to being a premier guitarist and producer in the NYC region. From 1964-74 the pop music scene had exploded into British Rock Invasion, Motown Detroit Soul and the Rough sounds Memphis Soul and Blues. Mike found his passion was in Menphis. On a trips to Columbus Ohio, he attended both Baptist and Pentecostal churches and was drawn by the church revivals and the sounds of spiritual rhythm. Apon returning to the East Coast he set out to expand the music group with a stinging brass section, cracking guitar and bass rhythm, funky drums and an up-tempo blues keyboard. So came was the birth of The Original Soul Revival. After playing the local circuit they began collaborating with many known music entertainers listed below. As retrospect they won The Famous Battle of the Bands Contest at Palisades Park, hosted by DJ Cousin Brucei and DJ Hal Jackson. Mike and The Revivals style mirrored greats like James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Mitch Ryder, Otis Redding and Blues Greats like BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins Son Seals and Bobby Blue Bland to name a few. However, some resent sounds include a more melodic influence of Sade and the Eurhythmics. The release of their CD " Burning Up the Blues" came after a collaboration event benefiting the Stand by Me Foundation with Ben E. King and rereleased in 2022.  The band continues to perform at Concerts, Preforming Art Theaters, Corporate Events, Parties and Celebrations.
